The Homestead

The Homestead

Our homestead is 40 acres of open wide high desert, surrounded by exquisite mountain views and incredible sunsets. Sitting at 6,300FT above sea level, we get all four seasons, occasional high winds, and cold nights are year round no matter how hot the day was. Access to the sun and wind gives us many options for alternative power. We cannot wait to have our solar and wind power setup so that we can generate our own electricity. Our main goal is to be as self sufficient and self reliant as possible. Things are happening slow here, but thats ok, because we have the rest of our lives to build this up. Living this life doesn’t happen overnight. It takes a lot of hard work, dedication and patience.

Our Home

Our home is a 16×80 single-wide mobile home that we purchased free and clear of debt. Its currently under renovation while we live in it too. We cant wait to finish renovating but are having so much fun along the way, and are learning so many useful skills.

Animals

Right now the only farm animals we have are chickens. Our flock grew fast and shrunk quickly after we lost Hera. They are free ranged, although there are positives to having them free range, there are far more negatives. I’m learning now its best to keep them in a coop. We have plans on making three separate large coops. Its going to be another big project but its going to be awesome for our chickens. Im so very excited to make them look like those Pinterest worthy chicken coops. 😆

We would love to have sheep, horses and cows in the future! My dream farm will then come true. 💖

December 2020 Update: Right now our homestead consists of Chickens, Ducks, Pigs, Goats, and a Miniature Horse!
